I was privileged to be selected as one of the City of Boston's Paint Box Program artists. Each artist was assigned a utility box in the city to paint and revitalize. This was my first foray into public art and I was delighted that "my" box was in my neighborhood.
I love living in the historic district of Boston but my landlords don't put much effort into maintenance and beautification. So, I decided to give my building a much-needed "makeover."
I love the moodiness and thoughtfulness that accompanies pondering outer space or the ephemeral places that serve as an imaginary mental refuge.
This past summer I had an ant problem in my living room for weeks. They were crawling on the coffee table even when the food was gone. This "ant art" is me trying to make peace with the ants and understand them, asking them "What is it you want?? Where is it you're trying to go??" This is the path of 7 ants on my coffee table during just one minute of observation. I love their crazy patterns.
